Rakhi To India
India is the land of many Traditions and Rituals. Raksha Bhandhan is also a part of rites of the Hindu tradition, marking the love and affection between brother and sister. Rakhi is celebrated with much fanfare in Indian communities across the globe. On this auspicious day of Raksha Bhandhan, a sister ties a rakhi on her brother's wrist and applies tilak on his forehead. After this she prays to god for his long and healthy life. Then the brother expresses his gratitude to her sister by making a promise to protect her from hardship of her life and gifting her something she cherishes.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrating about six thousands year back. In puranas and historical books sereval incident throw light on the origin and early customs related to Rakshsa Bandhan. Accroding to puran or historical books on “Shravan purnima” the “DEV” and “ASUR” were fighting battle against each other for dominate creation. Unfortunately the Asur was strong positions, as compared to Dev. King of god Indra was worried about result of battle. His wife Indrani could not see him worried and and prayed to the almighty to help her husband. Indrani (Shashikala) was religious lady,So she prepare a talisman with her divine power and tied talisman around indra's right wrist and she believed her talisman will safeguard Indra from the attack of the Asur. She proved it. Unfortunately Asur won the battle and indra escaped unheart. After this the talisman was called “Raksha Suthra” and the ceremony of tying was called of Raksha Bandhan
